Doing the cash envelope system with actual cash is so fun, however I know I am going to have to switch to a digital cash system at some point in time. I am just little confused about some things and would like to have some helpful information. There are apps that allow you to add your bank account and bank accounts you can open such as the capital one 360 savings account that allows you to have multiple savings accounts to categorize sinking funds of your choice, which is great, but in order to spend money from each sinking fund would I have to transfer money to my checking account to pay? Or is it a way to pay directly through each sinking fund account?

I admire that you were even debt free once. I can’t say that! You are doing great and life happens you have to always do what is best for you are your family. You guys will tackle this. I can’t wait until I can say I am debt free

I did a lot to budgeting to stay out of debt but when I had my first kid this past October my maturnity leave was 8 weeks partial pay and I bit the bullet and we put groceries and gas on a credit card and the debt we aquired is less than the money we lost by not working and we are slowly trying to tackle it while also having the extra expense of a whole baby lmao. Life is tough, but I know we can make it happen even in our solo low income household, it’ll just take time to make enough to pay it off

My husband and I are retired. It's not worth it to us to have club memberships. We don't need to keep that much stock. We don't wanna buy another fridge just to stock it. Cheaper for us to just buy what we need and will use!

I would recommend to try experiencing cooking food! It’s fun. I pay for under or equal to $150 for a month of grocery expense. Aldi is great and better than COSTCO or Sam’s club in my opinion so you don’t have to pay extra membership, but you are the one to decide if it is saving you money to buy items in bulk and help paying your gas bill than anywhere else, and if those places are applied with your bank’s 5% cash back of respective quarter, if they offered like Chase that I’m using.

I have a Sam's club membership and I use it mostly to bulk up on paper goods, fruit, kids snacks which are things we go through quickly so it makes more sense for me to buy at once. and I also like to buy at Kroger and Food Depot for more items on sale.

I’m trying to decide if I want to keep my Costco membership or just stick with regular grocery stores and target. Between all the digital coupons, I find myself saving more at regular stores. I’m keeping the membership this year and then I’ll reevaluate next year.

Hi Lizzie!!! I set up a sinking fund and go to Sam's Club (which is like Costco) every few months. I do my homework. I go only for items I know are a great deal. I am alone so I don't have a family to feed but I had two spinal surgeries so I am a hot mess. You can get some excellent deals. For instance I LOVE their bacon pieces (like bacon bits only bigger), their kitty litter is a great deal, they have super great deals on meat. Their pork steaks are so delicious cooked on the stove top with butter and garlic! OMG they are thick! Anyway...yes they have great deals you just have to do your homework. I always get online before I go and figure out the best prices between Walmart, Kroger and Sam's! Thanks! Love your videos!

When you break down pricing and how often you buy those items to me it's worth it. Especially when it comes to meat. You can stock up for a month so at that it's worth it as your food shop is less in between. I shop for 4-5 people though. Where it's just the two of you you'd be stock for like 2 months and still to me it's worth it.

It is not worth it for us. We spend way too much because we buy things we don’t need…it’s way too tempting for us!

For me the BJs and Costco membership is worth it. I only have both because I got the memberships for a very low fee. I think it depends on if the items that the store carries are items that you like and are a part of your weekly staples. If it's not then it may not be for you. I buy mostly food at both. If I purchase toiletries one package lasts me a whole year. 😅

New subbie! I am working on getting a month ahead as well... trying to do a little bit towards it at the end of every month if I'm underbudget, but thinking about shifting how I handle magic months so at least half of the "extra" check can go towards it.

Hi Lizzie, I used the snowball method one category at a time starting with the smallest. Then moved to the next one. You may find you are already a month ahead in some of your categories since you save each paycheck especially ones that are due closest to the beginning of the month. I realized I was already a month ahead on our rent since I save for it each paycheck and have the money ready for the first. When I realized I was already a month ahead on rent and did snowball it made it much easier since rent is our largest bill.
